Silver Spring International, and Washington International are both schools that have both French and Spanish immersions options at the middle school level, and are in this metro area. I'm sure there are many such schools around the country.

I think DCI is a great thing, and I hope it succeeds but it's not that rare of a model.

Wow, bummer for you that you can't relate! I'm not a DCI parent, but I do know how it feels (even after a week!) to go from a school where you did not feel a good fit (or you were miserable) to a school that feels like a great fit. It's ridiculous to act like there's a "required waiting period before raving" LOL! It's entirely possible that a parent feels like they're having a totally different and wonderful experience after a week and rave about it. After all, there is a lot to be appreciated (or distressed by) just in: 1st day of school engagement and processes, classroom set up, teacher engagement, meeting other parents, commute, facilities (even though DCI is in swing space it's still their space right now), pre-start of school communications from admins... The list goes on of things that can be strikingly positive in the first week of school.

Go do something to cheer yourself up PP, because ruling that "unnecessary hype" makes you sound like a sourpuss who needs some good news!

NP- i have a kid in the 7th - french track. she RAVED about her day. She was thrilled about the chrome book and her classes were stimulating. She liked having tea and a lounge for a break. loves the space and was enthused about her teachers. Overall a good day - as reported by an adolescent, which is saying something....

Do you mind sharing which language? How did the language instruction go? New kids to the program? More?
