If you can't find one to join, perhaps reach out to a few friends who also enjoy cooking and see if they'd be interested in joining. Then ask each of your interested friends to try to find a couple of their friends who might be interested. You get to meet some new people, but those new people are also vouched for by some of your existing friends, so less likely to be weirdos than random internet people.

Same poster here, I thought of some more themes. Once we had a Kids Choice, where we made our kids favorite dinners. We brought the kids to that one. We've done Recipes From Yore, which is the grossest dish our family used to make. October will be Easy halloween That Looks Fancy. Again, kids. Well do favorite ethnic dish. Once, we assigned other people to make things they thought we'd be good at. Once, we made our husbands favorite dishes. We don't stress about repeating a theme.
