We went with dark green which has worked well. It's in its fourth house in 8 years. I'm not a fan of too much beige in a house.

I'd prefer a dark red, a dark green, or maybe brown leather with beige walls.

Very deep sofas might not work in small spaces. Ikea Ektorp is a slip covered sofa and colors include about 5 different whites and beiges. We have bleking[?] white. Now if you get beige you cannot use chlorox. Our back and sofa cushion covers have been spot clleaned with chlorox and washed in the machine. Look like new.

Lol. I am totally lusting over a giant velvet leopard print chaise lounge at my local home goods. I have nowhere to put it but it would be a conversation piece!

I would go with a tan/neutral couch and you can brighten with throw pillows if you'd like.

Someone mentioned a red couch. I noticed while buying a home that black people are the only ones with red couches. Just a weird observation.

OP, go to the Pottery Barn website and look at the colors offered for Everyday Suede upholstered furniture. I'm not suggesting you necessarily buy from there, but those fabrics (many of which are in the netural ranges people are talkng about) will give you some good ideas of what you like and what works for your room.

Go with ivory or bone.

Thanks all-no kids and I'm buying this couch to last so I'd like to keep it looking nice. Caramel sounds like a great suggestion.

I'd go a nice warm camel color (slightly darker than beige). The general rule is to go neutral with large pieces like a sofa. You can add bold color with accent pillow (Pier One/Home Goods/Target are great for inexpensive pillows). If you choose a patterned sofa, it will tend to look dated sooner. Pillow are easy to change when you want to update things.

White is always an easy choice -- but for me, its too hard to keep clean with all my pets.

I'd do white with slipcovers.

Go to Houzz.com and look at what you like. Yes, those rooms are usually more fabulous than ours, but you can see color palates, etc. Shape and comfort are going to be more pimple rant than color. Do you want leather or fabric.?

I'm noticing this year that the stock fabrics are grey. Bleh. I personally would go for more of a caramel than a beige or chocolate brown, but I have no idea what kind of room you're working with.

White is best in small places. Do you have a kid?

I'm moving into my first home a 750ft condo with beige walks. I'm trying to pick out a sofa color that is easy to clean yet will not accent the size of room or detract from amazing view out the window. My floors are light wood.
