I’ve heard that virtually all the children on the island attend private schools in Annapolis and pass over the public schools. Chesapeake is not rated a 9/10, it’s rated a 4/10, but that’s probably because of the faulty/non-existent AP participation data for AACPS high schools pushing the rating down. The elementary schools in the area are still rated well. My impression of CHS is that it’s not as highly-regarded as Severna Park, Broadneck, Arundel, and South River High Schools, but that it’s still considered a fine school
Chesapeake is a 4/10 because a lot of Pasadena is pretty poor. I am a part-timer on Gibson Island but have met a couple of families with kids who live there full time. They send their kids to private school in Baltimore, which is a hike. It is a pretty wonderful place in my opinion (I guess WASPy is a fair statement, but becoming less so), but it strikes me that it might be a bit lonely for kids.
