It's called camping. It's a popular thing.

Jesus H. Christ. It must be exhausting to be you, OP.

Sounds fun! Worst case scenarios didn't happen and were unlikely to do so. How would you have felt if those 13 year olds snuck to a boy's house? The more you come down on her about things like sleeping in a backyard, the more likely she's going to rebel against you and not tell you about it.

I think it sounds pretty cool. I honestly can't even imagine being upset.

Op, I think you are a little tightly wound. If this was a backyard, the chances of a "home invasion" are minimal. You really need to weigh infantalizing your daughter, protecting her, and ingraining lifelong paranoia vs. allowing her to have experiences of fun and pleasure.

What is that song I keep hearing? Oh yes...LET IT GO...

Sounds like a great sleepover.

I wouldn't have objected to it as long as the parents were monitoring the situation.

I hate the word "ticked."

I hope you aren't ruining what was a great experience for your daughter.

No I wouldn't be ticked. If it's safe enough to go to the persons house it's safe enough to go to their backyard.

Sounds like fun! These are the kinds of spontaneous memories your daughter will remember years from now. For god's sake, it's not like she walked through Barry Farms at 3AM...

No.
No.
I don't think so.

Do they live in a dangerous neighborhood?

You are too uptight.

What a great sleepover!

So, my daughter had a sleepover at a friend's house on Saturday night. Tonight she revealed to me that the six of them took their sleeping bags to outside and slept "under the stars" in the host's backyard. Um...common sense should tell you that sleeping in a yard, that anyone has access to, is a really stupid idea. Thankfully, she's OK, but I'm still mad at her, for doing something stupid, and a little peeved the host's mother allowed them to do this.
