Love my Kitchen Aid. It is the 9? cup one that also comes with a 4? cup bowl insert. We have had it for a long time. Probably used weekly. Certainly more often than my stand mixer or blender.

We have a Ninja blender, and I just got rid of my too-small food processor. For everything I used my food processor for, the Ninja does better. It has multiple blades at different heights. I never used mine for grating or doing anything more than pulsing into small bits. I don't have room for appliances that don't do multiple jobs well, unfortunately.

I have a blendtec it can do everything but slice things in even rounds, which I use a mandoline for anyway. Have yet to unpack the food processor I received at my wedding.

Pie dough! Mix dry ingredients and fat, pulse a few times, add egg / lemon juice / water and pulse a few more times, done.

I use the shredding disk on carrots, zucchini, potatoes.

The food processor also just does a better job of getting things fully pureed and smooth than a blender, IME.

I find ours chops up food very effectively.

Yes on grating. I use mine to grate cheese, carrots, potatoes (for hash browns), to shred veggies for salads, to slice potatoes (e.g. for potatoes au gratin).

I haven't used my blender in *years* -- the food processor can do everything the blender can do and more. IMO, the only reason to have a blender is that the food processor can't crush ice, but frankly, my blender can't do that either (and most can't IME).

Yes! Great question.

I love mine, but it certainly doesn't get daily use. Main uses here are chopping nuts, grating veggies (zucchini, sweet potatoes, carrots, beets, etc for breads and pancakes), making certain doughs, pesto, and other dips and dressings.

You can do all kinds of things in a food processor like:

Make hummus/dips, mayo, breadcrumbs, dough. Chop up nuts, make your own mince. Grate cheese. Slice/grate vegetables...

Mine has a citrus press for making juice/squeezing lemons. It can also beat egg whites. I'm sure there is more that I am forgetting.

That my blender cannot? Is it worth it to invest in one? Does it make food prep easier?
