I'm in Maryland and this is what we do. Big trips to Total Wine 3 to 4 times a year, and if I need a particular bottle that we don't have on hand, I go to the local shop and suck up the full price.

yeah, wife goes. I hate it - too noisy and crowded. I have checked out the wines - pricing isn't bad, but not that great. And the selection is distinctly limited, and unlike TJ's or TW no help whatsoever - not human help, or even useful point of purchase info. I might pick up a bottle when dragged in their, but it won't be my regular place to go - and of course its not any closer to us than the TW in Landmark is (that TW isn't really far driving on I395, but sometimes I just don't want to get on the highway just for a bottle of wine)
I might try World Market again but never found them great as a wine shop from what I can recall.
Sounds like its either go to TW at Landmark, go TJs in Baileys, patronize one of the small independents, or pay the full prices at the supermarkets.

I don't think you have to be a member to buy their wine. But I never think the selection is that great/interesting.

Maybe World Market? There's one in a shopping strip off Rt 7 a little bit east of Bailey's Crossroads, and another one at Pentagon City.

I used to live real close to Total Wine and relied on it.
Now I live in NW Alexandria - nearest TW is at Landmark. While I like small independent wine shops, most of my wine purchasing needs are less than $12 a bottle, so I usually want a cheaper store. Only good choice I have identified so far is the Baileys Crossroads Trader Joe's. Or getting on the highway to Landmark, but why use the gas for a $10 bottle of wine?
