Every teacher I know is in by 7 or so (an hour before school starts ) and home at 4 or so (again an hour or so later) and often have to do work at home for a bit grading and lesson planning. How does your job work that its truly those house. No snark, just interested. All the teachers I know do not work part-time even though school hours might look that way.

Cool! What do you do for your etsy work? I have zero crafty or art-y skills so I am always so impressed by people who do!

I work for a University. I make NOTHING. The same salary as I was making a few years after undergrad working in corp law/ paralegal work. They are insanely flexible- which is the trade off.

I keep the job more because I need to not have another resume gap as I had one for going back to school and then moving with DH for his job in the last 5 years.

I would like to find something that pays better and is part time, but for now I will keep this. Its a public university so I kind of like the idea of advancing public higher ed, as my goal is nonprofit management work but sometimes I just wonder if I should look in private sector for something- I have a lot of the soft skills that community/public relations teams seem to need. I love working with people, groups, etc. and love organizational tasks.

My husband (and I, technically) have a small software and tech consulting company. Since our son was born, I do software testing and such; nothing client-facing because my time available is not always predictable. I also have my own online shop and Etsy store that do pretty well. Income varies.

I'm a real estate agent/property manager. I probably work about 30 hours/ week from home. I make $100k in a low cost of living area.

Industry networking & a good reputation

Go to a popular annual conference in your industry of interest, have informational discussions, make sure you will like the culture, network, get tips on how to transition, go from there and use your connections. But enjoy what you do, your work will show it, and people will seek you.

Church Administrator. I work about 20 hours a week. I make $30 an hour. It is the perfect job for me. I feel like what I do makes a difference - We do a lot of charity work. My hours are flexible. I'm home when my kids are home. I love the people I work with. It's a loving, supportive environment. I do the web design and all the marketing so I get to be creative, which I love! It's just a fun job.

I feel very lucky.

I took off almost 6 years after having my first child. I am glad that I had the opportunity to do it but I was also lucky to find the position that I did. I am always able to be home with the kids by 3pm everyday. Which is great for the kids and I.

NP. OP, thanks for posting, I am in the same boat and have some flexibility in changing careers due to my background but I am in my mid 40s with a preschooler so cautious. I am interested in finding out too what other moms are doing. I would love to take time off now when my toddler needs it but friends say the best time to take off or work less is later when my son is a little older.

Depends on your career. I went back to work part time (about 25 hours) in a financial analyst position. I had a lot of flexibility in terms of the hours. Now I am working almost full time but it works because I start by around 6am. I have an accounting background.

And how much do you earn?

I am am FTM, WOH mom and struggle a lot. I have no time to do any personal health stuff, cook or spend much time with my LO who is 15 months. My commute is bad and I am always tired. If you work part-time of have a lot of flexibility of working from home, what do you do and how much do you earn? I think we could manage without a full additional salary. I am evaluating my options.
