The tub is a hard surface. What a bad idea for a kid who is just sitting up. I can hear her head clunking against the tub as I write this.

OP, do you have a jolly jumper thing you can hang in the doorway? My kid LOVED that thing.

I have a similar problem so I bring the playmat into my teeny tiny bathroom and she plays on that. It is somewhat comical to squeeze her and the mat through the door but it works. You'll need to baby proof your bathroom and cabinets as baby gets older. I prefer to shower before she wakes or DH leaves for the same reasons you posted.

Thank you for your very helpful advice. We lived in a different house when the first 2 were that age and it was much safer and easier with them to leave them playing on the floor with some toys while I took a shower. That just isn't possible in this house.

Let her cry. It is 15 mins.

OP here. I'm actually the total opposite of an AP. I don't need my kids attached to me all the time and I'm ok with someone crying sometimes when I need to get something done quickly. I also think independent play is very important and she gets plenty of that. With that said I don't like the idea of her screaming for 15 minutes while I take a shower and leave her in her crib. The tub idea would be great but unfortunately we don't have a separate tub from the shower.

I put mine in the tub (dry) with toys so she could see me in the shower. I had the hot water faucet baby proofed, though (I think just by covering it up). I had to do this a lot because I was pumping, and she was cruising and toddling. It worked out fine.

I always assume when people ask this crap that they are hardcore AP parents just looking for an opening to brag about how they even shit with their babies attached to them.

Seconding her crib or a pack & play. It's healthy for children to learn to amuse themselves and enjoy their own company.

Her crib? This is not at all difficult.

DD is 7.5 months old now. Before she could sit I would put her in the bouncer when I needed to take a shower. Now that she is sitting and starting to crawl I don't have anywhere safe to put her so I can take a shower. We have an exersaucer but keep that downstairs and it's too big and heavy to take upstairs just for when I need to shower. She spends most of the time on the floor but I just need somewhere safe to put her for 15 minutes. Any suggestions?
