If they are interviewing other people, they aren't sure about you. The best strategy is to move on and start pursuing other options. If they call you back, great, you can reevaluate, but if not at least you'll already be on to other things.

anyone?? feeling frustrated and depressed like the other poster I guess... it's worse when the interviewers act so nice and make you feel like you got the job, but I know that's part of the deal. they hold the cards. I guess I can only know I did my best and wait it out.

well OP here with another update. I do know that I was the first candidate they saw and I got past phone, in person and then lunch before anyone.
So lunch was this past week and it appears they are going to interview a couple other candidates (phone interviews) this week.

I was hoping to hear this week with an offer or not, guess not. If they are interviewing other people is that a 100% that I didn't get the job or is there some chance they are doing that just to be sure there isn't someone out there?

I want to cut my losses if it's a no go, but everything so far has been really positive and they told me they would be in touch soon.

thoughts? should I prepare for disappointment? Is it bugging them to send an email next week asking if there are any next steps? my read is that they like me but not enough for an offer and don't want to say no because they are keeping their options open. Either way, doesn't seem like a great outlook, but maybe I am just getting myself down.

Hi. This is OP with an update.
I went to the second interview. It was actually a meeting with one young and older employee that work for the hiring manager. They let me ask a lot of questions. They didn't so much interview me as in pelt me with questions, but I could tell they were evaluating how I carried myself etc. I thought it went really well.

I sent thank you follow up emails to both and also sent one follow up note to the hiring manager bc I did have a change in my schedule from what I originally told her. I kept it short and stated one last time my interest in the work.
Both replied with really nice messages, but the hiring manager did not respond.

They did mention at lunch that things were busy bc the hiring manager is on vacation all this week.

so does that mean I have wait another 10 days to hear anything? I mean if someone is on vacation, they can't and likely won't keep the hiring process moving, right?
I shouldn't have expected a reply back from the thank you to the hiring manager, right?

thank you to anyone willing to help me as I wait this out.

I know I keep bumping my own thread. Anyone out there with more advice? This wait over the long holiday is killing me!!

Okay, one more question, sorry new at this. Would the hiring manager call me at some point to extend an offer or do it in person?

Right. I did an email to the hiring manager later that afternoon to show interest ASAP and then a handwritten note to the other person that works under the hiring manager. Wasn't sure if handwritten and email to the hiring manager would be overkill.

One other question, still not sure if a third interview is expected if I pass the lunch test or will that decide it? Also, will I see at all the hiring manager or anyone else the day of this lunch, even to say hi? Or do you think it will literally just be lunch with these two, hopefully, peers?

Make sure to send a handwritten thank you note to the person that interviewed you. Send via email if then will choose before it would arrive.

Great. Thanks for giving an opinion. So do you think this would be it or there will at some point have to be a third interview? I feel like bc it's entry level that would be overkill, but I also wondered if I'd have to meet with the hiring manager again. Trying not to get too excited, but it seems like they like me. So hard to be patient!!

Looks good. They are trying to see if you'd be a good personality fit with the other two people. Be yourself, don't over or undersell. It's as important for you as it is for them for it to be the right fit. Good luck.

Then one week later this thursday An email came from the junior person asking to have lunch with her and another employee also entry level type after Labor Day. Used the word soon. Said it was to answer questions about the position and provide a chance to meet the other entry level person.

So what does this mean? Close to an offer? Would a third interview be needed? Lunch is just with two people that would be the same level as the position.

I would give it a couple of days past Labor Day. No one is working next week, and large companies are notoriouslyslow.

anyone? I think people are on vacation this week, but would you expect to hear on Monday or Tuesday or longer?

interview was Wed at a large company for an entry level job. pretty sure by how quick person got in that they were the first person interviewed.

boss of hiring manager is on vacation, but back on Monday.

interview went well and feedback seemed very positive.

what say you? if no word by Friday, Monday, Tuesday etc. which day, do you think it means they just aren't interested?

btw, hiring manager is also trying to fill a couple other positions, but higher level.
