Absolutely positively the least expensive option, and they work. Just beware the clips used to position the opening/closing position of the blinds: they can come apart and be a choking hazard.

We got ours at home depot. They cut them to whatever the dimensions of your window are.

Op here. New guidance is that the inner cords are also a hazard, not just the pull cords. So we need to replace.

Can you hammer a large nail up high and tie the blinds to this? It would make opening and closing them a little more work, but it wouldn't be as expensive and wasteful as new blinds.

Baby is becoming mobile, so we need to replace the basic mini blinds in our house with something safer. We don't have the budget for nice window treatments right now -- we just need something inexpensive and safe (and hopefully not too terrible looking) that we can install ourselves. Any recommendations?
