I work at a public school and I haven't been given a penny. I have, however, gotten a lot of hand-me-downs from veteran teachers, bought a lot on my own, and minimal supplies that have been handed out to all teachers (scotch tape and a giant pad of paper)

I can fully understand how you are feeling, but, here is something to think about.

At our children's last school we never paid for supplies... now here is the downside. We instead had to pay their tuition fees which was like another mortgage payment. We are now at a public school and we will take the cost of supplies any day over the cost of monthly tuition. LOL

Also, I learned that for some schools you can buy supplies as a bulk order online therefore eliminating the need to run around to a bunch of different stores and dealing with lines. I hear they cost a little bit more... must be a convenience fee.

That is fantastic! Is that just for Back to School?

No, all the time. You can also do it online. https://savingscatcher.walmart.com/?subid=22222222220213597048

It cost me $20 for first grade, excluding the backpack.
I got most of the things at Walmart.

This blogger complies all the sales prices for school supplies each week. I used it alot when we were doing a supply drive for our local school.

The answer is school/principal dependent.

When I taught, I got a pack of 24 pencils and a half of ream of photocopy paper for the year. Needless to say, it wasn't enough.

For my first grader it cost me $50 this year. That is not inclusive of a backpack or lunch bag.

I don't think the teachers get money at least my friends that teach in other county's don't money for back to school. They write it off at tax time.

How much does it cost you?

What money do the teachers get every year for this? ?
