Angel Food cake, no icing. That is what my dad had for his birthday -he was diabetic.

Fruit is high in sugar too.

Ps. Don't presume what a diabetic would or wouldn't like. If you are unsure ask. My type I spouse indulges occasionally and adjusts his insulin accordingly.

Order something like a tray from chick fil a. Then have pepperoni and cheese etc.

How is that better? There's still plenty of sugar in an angel food cake. Is it just because there's no frosting?

Is this a surprise gathering? If not, I would just ask the honoree what they'd prefer. Some might prefer to avoid sweets altogether, including artifical sweeteners, some might be okay if the sugar content is buffered by a lot of fat and protein, etc.

Go to dessert in this situation is an angel food cake with some kind of fresh fruit topping. As the wife of a type I diabetic I've prepared this many times.

We did one of those weird pampered chef cold veggie pizzas for someone who was on a diet, but for diabetes maybe meat and cheese trays and veggie and fruit trays?

This is a work place celebration. But the person to be celebrated has diabetes and obviously won't like a regular cake. Is there something specially for those with diabetes instead of a cake?
