You must go out and buy a pee alarm right now. Seriously. It works.

I would start with 1/2 capful in 4 oz of water or apple juice. You can give it at bedtime if you would like. If that dose is not effective, increase to 1 capful in 8 oz of water or fruit juice.

wow, your kids are wearing pull ups until a very late age. that is not normal. i would speak to a doctor again this week. and i second PP. don't buy pull ups anymore, have your son help change the sheets and do the laundry inthe middle of the night and set an alarm every 3 hours for him to go.

How about calling your sons doctor?

Do you wake him up at night to use the bathroom? I potty trained at 12 months and had to wake the child up around midnight at 5 am . Now at 2 I just wake him up around 4 am. He goes right back to sleep

It depends on his height and weight. When we did it, it was 7 capfuls into 32 ounces of liquid drunk over 24 hrs but this was for a five yr old.

Np: 8 yo is now considered preteen? I thought that was ages 10 - 12

OP, just go ask the pharmacist. They are an untapped resource. You don't even need an appointment. They love being asked for advice on how to use medication.

So my 8-year old son is still wearing pull-ups at night. Wakes up with them pretty soaked. Totally day trained for years now. He seems mildly embarrassed by it but not enough to do anything about it. I thought he'd decide to work on it when his sister finally gave them up about 6 months ago (at about 6.5). I know that it's probably due to unrecognized constipation. We did have an X-ray done about 16 months ago that showed no abdominal mass, but the pediatrician wants us to do the miralax treatment anyway. We just moved and I was waiting for the summer when we didn't have to go out of the house for a few days. I can't find the doctor's notes now about how much, how long, etc. Anyone have bee there, done that advice? Do I do one spoonful of miralax in a cup of milk (or whatever) 2x? 3x a day? For how many days? I'm thinking not right before bed so he's not up all night in the bathroom (or worse, an accident in bed that's a lot messier and more embarrassing). He's not too excited about this so I want to do it "right" the first time so we don't have to drag it out or repeat it (plus I want to do it in the next two weeks before school starts). Help! Thanks!
