Sure- no different really than buying shoes in a store-other people have tried them on. If they are in good condition, just wipe the insides down with some Lysol and air dry them. I but new clothes and shoes, as well as used clothes and shoes. Theoretically, buying a ton of new stuff makes no sense. We all have too much: let's recycle what we don't want- and let's buy what others have given away for whatever reason. I've given away a lot of clothes, shoes, furniture,etc. Right now there are three gorgeous shirts and a pair of shoes that I can't wear. Mistakes in purchasing...shoes really do not fit me well. I wore them 2 times. It happens.

BTW- I get a charge from buying cool stuff second hand! My HHI is not low, either.I can afford new items...but I love the whole "finding that cool bargain!" Lately, my personal belief is that we should really buy most furniture second-hand. The furniture industry is really killing the forests.

No. I'm willing to buy most things used, but not worn shoes.

I might be willing to buy a pair of special occasion shoes used--if they were just worn for one or two special occasions. But something to wear on a daily basis? No.

I buy used shoes all the time. As long as there's no foot imprint on the insole and little to no tread wear there's no reason not to. I spray them well with lysol, stuff them with newspaper for 24 hours and they're good to go.

If they seemed to be BRAND new (like worn maybe once or twice) I would consider it. But generally, no. I remember trying on an old pair of stiletto heels at a vintage shop once and getting a really creeped out feeling. I generally don't shop at used clothes stores, even though I know many people do and it's certainly economical. There's a vintage/used clothes shop in Mt Pleasant called Frugalista that I've been curious about, but still have never entered.

I don't like the thought, but I have donated several pairs of new, barely worn or never worn children's shoes to clothing charities like Interfaith Clothing Center. They didn't fit my son or he hated them, etc. Usually gifts, but perfectly great shoes. Just not for him. So some used shoes out there might have never been worn. I hope someone's getting some use out of them down the road.

I've bought used shoes, but only if they won't be worn often or for long periods, or if they're not broken in. Once a shoe molds to someone else's foot, it's difficult to get the right fit.

Dress shoes, yes. Every day shoes, no. I also pass on shoes as hand-me-downs to other families that we have purchased as new.

I've bought used shoes for both my kids at consignment sales. I'd say 90% of their shoes are used, most pairs are new or barely used. It's harder the older they get especially the boys shoes. But I still manage to get some really good deals

I have in the past, but I don't anymore. The largest size I bought was a size 6. However, I do pass down some shoes from my oldest to my youngest if they're in good condition.

I found some awesome shoes at the thrift store today. Super cheap! Wondering if this is a bad practice and would you buy used shoes for your children?
