I have not eaten a crab cake in the longest time that has been good.

I think I will just make some at home.

Thanks to over fishing and pollution of the bay, there are only a few places that actually serve "Maryland crabs."

Most of what you eat comes as far as India, so you might as well go to Red Lobster if you don't care.

This is sad.

Frederick also has a new place, "Avery's Maryland Grille." For crabs and beer it can't be beat.

I liked May's in Frederick. Good sized crabs, relaxed kid friendly atmosphere.

Go early. Get there within a half-hour of them opening. If you want to sit on the deck, you'll probably have to wait. If you are willing to sit inside (divey bar feel), you'll likely get seated right away -- again, if you arrive within a half-hour of opening.

This. This is the feel that tourists want. It's just outside Annapolis so not a bad drive.

May's in Frederick. It's a crab shack.

I haven't been, but in previous threads and on WaPo chats, the consensus has been Cantler's. I think it's on Kent Island? (Or that neighborhood)

We like them best in the backyard: Captain White's on Maine Ave sells them live or cooked, along with fresh shrimp and clams.

Captain Pell's in Fairfax is family-friendly. Also, Bethesda Crab House.
