BM Palladian Blue is my favorite color in my house right now. But if you want to see some really beautiful colors, look at Farrow & Ball. I think I'm repainting my living room in their Elephant's Breath this fall.

Behr Silver Drop! It's a grey that goes really well with warm, light oak floors (polyurethane)--something I never thought would happen.

Of all the colors in our house, I love BM's Yarmouth Blue the very best. Was a guest room, now a baby's room, and it's weathered the furniture and light transition beautifully.

My favorite white is Behr's (I think) "antique white", which is actually a nice warm cream color and looks great with glossy white trim. If you want something cooler, I like Behr's "Swiss Coffee", which is kind of a crisp linen-y off-white. I also like Benjamin Moore's Devon Cream and had it in my last bedroom - a very creamy buttery yellow. (not sunny, not intense.)
Swiss Coffee is one of Behr's best-sellers. I spent a ton of time on Pinterest looking at paint colors; Better Homes & Gardens does great color recommendations by shades/colors so that's another item to search through.

Behr Gentle Rain - a beautiful light gray for our first floor
Behr Pale Sunshine - soft yellow for my son's room
Behr River Rock - pale blue-gray; perfect for the master
Behr Brown Teepee - great neutral brown for deeper contrast than beige
We used Behr's Surfer for a great turquoise accent; also love Behr's Porpoise for a deeper gray.
I love BM colors but for us, Behr was the better choice financially. The Behr Premium Plus with primer is excellent, it levels off well so is easy to use for DIYers.

Bedroom - Ben Moore Alaskan Husky (like a true light gray, not bluish, not greige-ish). I would go even lighter for a main room.

Those are all Benjamin Moore since you asked for brands. If you have an old house, their historical color palette is a good place to start.

I have a totally different color preference from PP - I think anything in a greighe looks fresh. I like both revere pewter and edgecomb gray. I also like white dove, if you prefer a white.

We're going to repaint an old house that's currently 100% blah (I don't know the official color). I'd like to do a little paining, maybe not everything, but I don't even know where to start. I would love some recommendations or recommended resources. tia
