I agree. You're not really cutting out sweets; you're just retraining your taste buds to like super sweet stuff. I've had success slowly using less and less sugar. For instance, I make great cakes that call for a cup of sugar. One one or two cakes, I'm down to less than 1/3 cup and can't tell. But the fake sugar products always taste obvious, IMO.
