Please don't do push-ups on your knees. Start against the wall, then use the arm of a sturdy sofa or the edge of a heavy table, then move to the floor for real push-ups. Also try tricep dips and planks.

Pushups. Start with one, real pushup. (Yes, you can do one).

Consider swimming as well. Great for arms and core.

No to lots of light weights. To build strength, you need to progressively lift stronger weights. Whatever weight is hard for you when doing 8 reps - 5, 8, 10 lbs, whatever - stick with that for 2-4 weeks, then move up to the next size. Repeat. And yes, pushups are key. As PP said, first wall pushups, then "girlie" (knees on ground) pushups, then eventually real pushups.

Do push-ups against wall at first if needed, planks and core work. If series about getting stronger see a trainer

I am 120 lbs, and 5'4". My arms are ridiculously flabby. I also have very weak strength. Never have done a push up. Find it hard to lift very heavy things. But still, I can carry my 4 year old ok. Anyway, what size weights should I buy? How often should I lift them (times per week, duration)? I also jog every other day for a 1.5 miles.
