I'd go to an inexpensive but fine state school, rather than take out loans.

depends on the industry. If anything, in the post-recession environment, that first or second job out of UG is more important than ever and hence HYPS gets a premium.

If I had to do it all over again, I would do big state school in a fun college town - UMichigan, UW-Madison, UT-Austin...

2. Northwestern. Gorgeous campus close to a cool city, Chicago.
3. Harvard. Because it's Harvard
