OP here. Greys look great in magazine and blog photos because they're showcased against a lot of white (white trim, white bookshelves, etc.) in uncluttered spaces. Grey feels cold and heavy to me, though, and I don't think it works well with our existing furniture and a more kid-friendly vibe. We'll see if the 2015 paint "forcast" has any changes, as someone suggested.

What about a gray/beige paint like Benjamin Moore's revere pewter? It has warm undertones and seems to appeal to people who don't like true grays because of the hardness of them.

Personally I love grey but, I feel like any neutral color is fine as long as it goes with the furniture and accessories that you'll be staging your home with.

We want to paint the outside of our new home and like the gray paint/red door combination. I've also seen some pretty dark blue colors but it really does seem like grey is the thing now. Beige or taupe is so blah to me.

We have taupe and I think it's classic and also neutral and inoffensive. Grey is hard to do without being cold.

I think gray is just a trend. I give it two to three more years tops.

I don't really like it. We need to repaint our first floor and basement, and it seems like grey paint is all the rage. We're planning to sell in 2 years, and I would like something other than grey. I was chatting with a relator, and she said she strongly recommends sellers to do grey or possibly light blue and to definitely not do light beige or off white.

She said grey is here to stay.
I want grey to go away.
