I loved La Taqueria when I lived there!! Yea, truly awesome. Not sure I've had a good burrito since I left SF. Sigh. Now I'm craving one. On an odd note, they used to charge me extra for "no beans". I never understood why I paid more to get less. Still worth it though

Im a sf transplant and would do the mission for tacos or dim sum- try city view on commercial.

OMG I loved Slanted Door!

I actually live in SF. Ignore the posters above. Epic roast house sucks and palomino is much much worse. Slanted Door is much better than Yank Sing.

You need to get a reservation for SD - they just won an award a couple of months ago so getting in is even harder than it was before. If you want to eat in the city, Hillstone on the Enbarcadero is one of my current favorites. Anything at the Ferry Building other than Market Bar will be good. But honestly, SFO has one of the best food courts. Literally near the airport is San Bruno and Pacifica, and that's all chain restaurants.

Also agree with stoping in sf. I haven't lived in SF in years (Slanted Door was new and hip when I left!), but I was going to recommend something like Palomino for the views and location. Just stop in SF on your way. Chinatown would be great for dim sum. For more upscale dim sum, and closer to the highway on the way to Napa is Yank Sing. Ferry Plaza is also in spitting distance of the highway and has many good options, though stay away from Slanted Door, it's expensive Vietnamese, and not in a good way like Yank Sing. Yank Sing is worth the premium, you can get better Vietnamese at many other places in SF for much less. I'd avoid the California style restaurants since you're going to Napa.
