Get a simple bench, and use the space under for boot/shoe storage with trays underneath. Then mount two or three (depending on height) shelves above, with some hooks for jackets just below the first shelf.

Looking to save money and find some out of the box mudroom storage instead of built ins. Something with simple lines (not too cottage-y would be nice). I've already looked at Pottery Barn, C&B, and Overstock. Any other suggestions for where to look?
