I have never had this happen.
If you are concerned about airtight containers, the OXO pop ones are pretty good.

I can not imagine a package of potato chips lasting 2 weeks in my pantry. Perhaps you should purchase smaller packages.

What is the best way to prevent open packages of crackers and other snacks from picking up other flavors in the pantry? This happens mostly with Saltines & Triscuits, but I just had it happen with potato chips. The snack has usually been open only 1-2 weeks and is either closed with a clip (which is of course not air tight) or put inside a zip top bag. When I go to eat them they are clearly not stale - they are still crunchy - they just have this odd flavor to them which I contribute to picking up flavors of other items stored in the same cabinet. Do you buy airtight containers to prevent this? How about the foodsaver? I am tired of throwing out all these snacks.
