+1. We use both and my kids like them. Doesn't look too kiddish and they no longer like bottles with spouts where you have to bite on them. I would prefer the thermos too because the drinking parts are covered. We use them when they are out in sports and contingo for regular school use. Lasted one whole school year and will be reused this year too.

Camelbaks but your kids have to get used to a different way of drinking. Foogo if your kids are younger?

How old are the kids? Thermos brand or contingo insulated steel bottles are good choices. My kids (age 10/11) still chew on their water bottles and straws and the camelbak, while hold on much better than things like sigg or klean kanteen, really encourages the habit of chewing while drinking. They Destroy everything else once drinking from other waterbottles. For thermos or contingo there is really nothing to chew. And it's insulated.

CamelBak makes insulated bottles, both metal and plastic. I have the Groove insulated, which also has a filter (I was traveling somewhere with potable but brackish-tasting water). The filter can be a bit noisy, and the spout doesn't always stay closed. DD has a regular Eddy, and it works well for her. Her spout stays in the closed position better than mine.

Ideally insulated so that the water stays cold all day at school . . . Metal? Plastic? Glass would not last, I expect!
