Sports fan? Great seats at a Nats game?

This. Have him bring a glove, kit him out with tshirts and hats and let him eat all the hotdogs in the world!

A trip to the Renaissance Fair or dinner at Medieveal Times:

I did a lego party for my kid who didn't have many friends, and the kids had a lot of fun. Summer birthdays are tough though.

What does your kid like?

We've been to the beach, Williamsburg, Water Country, and Kings Dominion already this year, he didn't really like the idea of paintball or bowling, . He's just back from a month away at sleepaway camp so I think he'd like to stick close to home, but I don't know what would be since we're often downtown at the museums and explore the area quite a bit (and now that I'm writing this I'm realizing what a busy summer we've had!). Would love any ideas you have!!

Does he have one or two really close friends? Instead of a party for a large number of kids, you could do something higher end with one or two friends, like dinner at a really nice restaurant. Or go to a ball game (Nats or United).

Friends have done some sort of pirate ship in either Annapolis or Baltimore. That might be a cool outing.

Honestly, ask him. Or come up with a few ideas and ask him to choose one (unless you are hoping to surprise him).

Actually saw that this weekend at a Drive-in closer to Winchester. Some of the jokes are above my 9 year olds head (which was good) but we all enjoyed it
