We flew around 130 guests to the Maldives for our wedding. It cost around $1.4 million but was well worth it.

I got married in Williamsburg, in 2004, 140 people, open bar, extensive passed apps and dinner buffet, DJ, about 15k. This does not include my dress or the rehearsal dinner the night before.

I got married at a high end boutique hotel in dc, 110 guests, the wedding cost 21k, the dj, photographer, and attire was extra.

How long ago? And all said and done -- can you give me an idea what "extras" that did/not include? Dress, rings, honeymoon, rehearsal dinner??

OP here who hasn't given a thought to the cost of a wedding for 19 yr old DD. There are no wedding plans in the air, I just have no idea how much these absolutely beautiful affairs we've been to cost (a few bar/bat mitzvahs that were nothing short of weddings and some truly spectacular weddings).

I don't base my gifts on the wedding venue or how lavish the reception is.
Gifts are based on how close I am/relationship with the couple.

Say a Ritz/Hyatt-type hotel (or similar high-end venue) DC wedding for 150 guests? Usual bells and whistles included but nothing totally ridiculous (which I know is subjective).
