I only wish both Herman Miller and DWR would offer the level of customer support that they do towards the actual sell. Something as simple as wanting to purchase replacement seat pads is an ordeal... with neither CS offering assistance. Going upscale does not always mean better service... as I've become to learn. URGH!

Go to Greenfront in Manassas or take the day and go to the one in Farmville. There's so much to choose from and the prices can't be beat.
This is where I get everything.

'within reach' refers to the fact that before DWR, these 'authentic' reproductions were not available to the public through a retail store - they could only be purchased by interior designers who were working with clients. So $10k seems a lot fo r sofa, but it probably was $15k before DWR showed up.

We have nearly identical pieces from DWR and CB2 in two of our houses, and so far the only appreciable difference is the CB2 was half the price. DWR did a good jbo with delivery, upon delivering ther was a tiny hole in the main cushoin, we said "just replace the fabric cover for us" and they said "oh that's not possible we'll replace teh whole thing for you."

I ask because $10K is getting into the realm of furniture ( RB, LR) that is expensive yet reputed to be well-made. Is DWR in fact as well made as the others?

Our Room and Board furniture has worn well, and we've been happy with the pieces we've bought. The quality of West Elm and Crate and Barrel is disappointing.

OP here - Room and board, west elm, C&B and CB2 are more our speed I think. Glad to know you love your Room and Board bed.

I don't know, OP, this is a tough one. We just bought our "forever" home and I have been struggling with the reality of furniture costs. We like DWR but cannot get comfortable with the cost. We ended up buying a bed from Room & Board which was about $2500 and I absolutely love it and feel it was worth every penny. I don't think I would feel the same way if it were $4500.

I had never been in there until a couple of weeks ago. I popped in thinking they might have some reasonably priced furniture for my new place.

Imagine my shock when the first thing I saw was a 10k couch!

Great design is not always synonymous with great functionality.

It is within reach if you have very long arms.

To be honest, Design Within Reach is at the very upper end of my budget - but we are just renovating our house and our kids have grown up a bit and I'd like to buy some 'forever' furniture. There's a bed I really like... but it's 2k more than all the other ones I'm looking at. I'm wondering, if you have bought something from DWR, do you feel like the quality as well as the design make it worth the cost? Or not?
