When I attended NCSU, Meredith had an arrangement whereby their students could take classes at NC State (and UNC I think) if Meredith didn't offer the class. AFAIK the program is still in place. My interactions with Meredith students were always positive. Your DD may also want to look at Salem College in Winston-Salem.

I had a friend who graduated from there who LOVED it. It's the kind of place with intense community, cheesy traditions, etc. that all add up to sentimental attachment to the school. It is very conservative--i think in terms of values/politics, as well as expectations for student behavior. And it doesn't have a great reputation for academic rigor. I was in a grad program with the friend who was an alum, and she didn't seem especially well prepared academically. She also was very sheltered--college didn't force her into new experiences, it seemed.

Anyone have experience with Meredith? DD and I are wondering if it's worth considering. She wants a small-ish school in an urban area.
