I am 19:14. Thanks. Same here... I got used to Prednisone and insomnia has considerably reduced.

I explained Dexamethasone concerns to my doctor and asked if I could alternatively take Prednisone. Apparently both function similarly, so I am going ahead with Prednisone.

I also had immune issues and was on pred. I stayed on it till 16w with my second successful pregnancy (12w for my first). It does suppress the immune system, lowers TNF. Your doctor may suspect you have some excess inflammation. .75 dex is a very small dose. I'm surprised that would do much to be honest.

Dexamethasone is used to address immune-related implantation issues and/or recurrent miscarriage. I took it for the entire first trimester of two pregnancies and had no issues other than some weight gain. It definitely increases appetite.

Who is your RE?

Side effects related to placenta in particular and insomnia (I am not so much worried about insomnia). I read about weight gain too. I am already 20 lb fatter with IVFs after no real success. I read that dexamethasone is prescribed few days before ER and then continues after ET. I am doing frozen embryo for which RE has prescribed it for almost a month before the transfer! Is that normal?

What side effects are you referring to? I have taken dexamethazone and prednisone for my cycles because I have immune system issues. They are meant to be taken for the duration of the first trimester and you will gradually wean off. I have never had a successful cycle so never had to take them that long. I did gain weight but it's hard to tell how much of it related to the steroids and how much to the other meds I had to take . As far as I know, dexamethazone can go through the placenta and prednisone cannot ask your RE why he prescribed them. He must have a good reason to do so and honestly must be pretty progressive because most would not consider any steroids.

I have an FET coming up. Schedule shows Dexamethasone 0.75 mg daily for about 28 days prior to the tentative transfer day. I don't know if they will ask me to continue it even after the transfer. Since I have never taken this medication in the past, I am a little worried. Why take steroid for such a long duration when it's known to have a lot of side effects?
What does this medication do for FET and has anybody here have an experience with it?
