obelisk in dupont is surprisingly romantic, at least when i went 5 years ago. it's a tiny little rowhouse with 15-20 seats at most. food is DELICIOUS and they change the menu every day. we had to wait 5 minutes for our table and they gave us two glasses of prosecco for our troubles.

What date are you looking for? That will help narrow down your choice. You can go to Open Table and search availability by the date and time you want to go. Check City Eats, too.

We just did our ten-year dinner a few weeks ago at Fiola. The food and wine were both fabulous. We told them it was our anniversary and they comped a bunch of suggested wine pairings and dessert. They even gave us some cookies to bring back for the kiddos! Needless to say, I got very full and very drunk that night!

Inn at Little Washington is overrated and arrogant.

Bistro Cacao is very romantic. I can't say the others are much romantic at all.

I LOVE Bistro Cacao for special occasions--really intimate atmosphere, good food, and they'll serve you quickly (American style) OR take their time and let you linger ( French style). We've had both kinds of meals there. I don't understand why it isn't busier, but we've never had trouble getting a last minute reservation.

I want to go big but we still have a nursing baby at home so don't feel comfortable doing anything overnight. (We considered little washington and volt) What are restaurant recommendations that are really nice and delicious but will take a reservation two weeks out??
