Reschedule - not reasonable that you didn't mention it immediately when plans were first discussed - if this appointment was sooo important to you. I think you're just wanting to be difficult.

It pretty much eliminates anything on the last day. I'd absolutely reschedule. Unless it's a specialist, I would say a regular ol' dentist appointment can easily be put off.

Definitely reschedule. I hate having to rush home after time away, especially if it was a short trip and we would like to have a leisurely trip back.

This is not a hill to die on. Just reschedule.

Traveling 3-4 hours means that on Saturday they will be getting there around lunchtime and will only have a half day there to enjoy, then a full day on Sunday. My guess is that they planned to enjoy the location on Monday for basically a full day and leave around dinner time and be back in time for bed. If they are to be back at 2, they'd have to leave by 10, and many places don't even open until 9. You aren't cutting their trip short a few hours; you are cutting it by an entire day! I would reschedule. Maybe you can get an early Tuesday appointment and have them take her before leaving town, if you are worried about missing work? Alternatively, you could offer to pay for a hotel Friday night so they could leave right after school/camp and enjoy a full 2 days (sat and sun) at the location, rather than 1 1/2 if they get there midday saturday and have to leave Monday morning.

Your mother is unreasonable. She should have checked with you with regards to appointments. Why cant they return for the appointment?

My parents, who live locally, are taking my dd away for the weekend as a birthday present to her. She'll be thrilled, it's fine with me. They're going somewhere about 3-4 hours away over a three-day weekend, leaving Saturday and coming home Monday. DD has a 2:00 dentist appointment on Monday, and my mom got upset when I asked her to commit to bringing DD home by 2:00 so I wouldn't have to reschedule her dentist appointment.

This is a very generous present, I don't want to interfere, and I could reschedule the dentist appointment, but it would likely involve missing school.

Who is being reasonable/unreasonable here?
