The bed shown in 20:55s suggestion is totally different--it is a classic iron bed. The one OP has picked out has a different look IMO. Too steely and cold for my taste.

We have a Very similar bed and I love it! We refinished /stainedour bedroom set in a dark grey "weathered" look. With crystal lamps w/ cream lampshades on the side tables. A great vintage mirror, and photos/ art work in black white grey and ivory. The room is painted a slate blue, but it is calming not dark.

It's in a guest room--not a child's room.

Your guest might sue you for the dangerous bed

You can't be serious? Iron/metal beds are classic and hardly dangerous.

At minimum it would be freakn uncomfortable.

I used to have a bed just like that! I used plain white bedding (duvet with pretty simple white duvet cover) and the rest of the room was light/soft blues and aquas. I got tons of compliments on it and it was very peaceful.

You're kidding, right?

Do you have a protective liner on your dining room table too? Maybe slip covers on every piece of furniture? Or plastic.

I'm not sure how you could decorate adjacent to the bed, or if you already have bedding, but I got my daughter an iron bed and used this bedding from Target:

It's far prettier in person than on the website, and very soft cotton. I also added a lot of throw pillows in a variety of subtle colors: soft beige, soft pink, off whites. It looks great.

My tastes generally run to clean lines and contemporary-almost-modern. For some reason, though, I fell in love with the bed pictured below. I'd like to do a shabby chic or maybe a beachy/cottage theme in my guest room, but I don't know where to start.
