I've had that happen before. Cycle 1 I bled right through my BFN on Endometrin. Cycle 2 was a BFP and I never even spotted--same dosage of Endometrin.

I just showed up a day early, on a Monday. My period kept trying to start and I'd tested negative at home the day before. I've had two chemicals and understood the pitfalls of testing too early, but 17 days of 2WW misery seemed like long enough, and I didn't want to continue taking the Endometrin, which really affects my energy level. Maybe they didn't like it, but they didn't turn me away!

As a former patient who did too many cycles, I can say it sucks waiting that long, but they do it for a reason. And, sometimes knowing the information later results in less agony in the long run. Hard to see it in your shoes now, but I definitely see it on the other side. I am not sure of the reasons SG does it, but based on my personal experience I can guess some:

- Many chemical pregnancies resolve before 18dpo, so they save some patients even more agony of a positive that lasts for 3-4 days. I know, as I have had it happen. I have had 2 chemicals on natural cycles that resolved almost as fast as they showed up.
- By 18dpo, the beta level for a viable pregnancy is more predictable. Very low or very high betas can be an indicator of an issue. I was advised that my beta of 118 at 15dp3dt was a reason to be "cautiously optimistic" given the level. That pregnancy turned out ectopic.
- Waiting until 18dpo ensures that an embryo has the fullest chance to implant and show up in bloodwork. An earlier test could be negative and you could, in fact, be pregnant.

They will say no if you ask, but it never hurts to try.

They said no when I asked for an early beta after a negative home test during my first cycle. I just showed up for an early beta the second time I cycled with them. I had already tested negative at home. There was no reason to prolong the misery and drive myself crazy with all pregnancy symptoms resulting from the medication. And I hated both times when the nurse called me, with her rehearsed voice and words to tell me how sorry she was I was not pregnant. Well don't be sorry, I have known for a week now and am already over it.....

I just asked; they said no. I'm thinking of testing at 8dp5dt and then trying to schedule a beta rather than dragging it out five more days. If it is a yes, I'll want confirmation. If it is a no, I want off of the medications. Would they actually refuse to do the test?

Many others have tried and failed to get an earlier beta. Couldn't hurt to ask.

If you are that anxious, ask your GP for a blood test sooner. There is a reason SG schedules their betas so far out; yes, I, too, think it feels like torture particularly when I POAS and it is negative. I have less problems with the wait when I get a + HPT.

Their 13dp5dt date seems really late to me, and I'm convinced the anxiety I experience can't be good for me. Has anyone convinced them to do an earlier test? If so, how? (I know I can just test at home, but that isn't going to give me a number or lack of a number like the beta.)
