They are Qatar's mouthpiece. It used to be pretty good, but since the Arab Spring, it has been used to promote Qatar's political positions more and more. Thanks for the Al Jazeera America reference! It does not appear to be reeking of bias unlike almost every other outlet. For instant, this is the lead story:

"A 72-hour Gaza cease-fire crumbled only hours after it began Friday, with at least 50 Palestinians killed by Israeli shelling, Israel saying one of its soldiers may have been abducted amid a gunfight in a Gaza tunnel, and both sides trading accusations of violating the truce."

That actually sounds pretty even handed. Most of the other sources seem ridiculous -- PressTV headline is "Western People Brainwashed on Israel".

Also, bizarrely, the International Herald Tribune seems to be avoiding the problem by… not reporting on the Middle East. ?!?

OP: I have checked all of those news sources and they might as well be reporting on different planets, in different languages.

So far the only one that seems at all balanced is BBC -- and I'm basing that on have combination of the bbcwatch link above, which accuses them if being anti-Israel, PLUS the fact that the current headline seems pro-Israel. So maybe if they're slanted both for and against they have the best chance of evening out?

You have to read and watch everything and come to your own conclusions based on reputation for reporting the truth about the region.

I use http://www.presstv.com among others and also people who are in Gaza right now

I don't think you can rely on one. The media isn't always accurate and here is always some bias.

I read Haaretz.

Please, don't turn this thread into a rant. I'd just be grateful for opinions on what the most reliable news source is right now. BBC? IHT? Thank you.
