As a Recruiter I consider job hoppers folks that move every two years or less. For junior people I give some leeway if they have 2 jobs in their first few years out of school, but it depends on the reason for why they have moved on. Generally I'm looking for someone that has progressed in their role. Changing jobs every two years usually doesn't show progression.

OP here, first job was in M&A/finance - current role is some strategy/investor relations job at a Fortune 300 in insurance.

my vertical growth here is capped...and my team is crowded, hence no room for me to make a significant impact. the job security is high though since its such a sleepy place/good balance sheet. just don't see a long-term fit with my team and have fear of missing out/becoming siloed later on

It depends on the field. For instance, Freelancers would always be job hoppers.

In high-tech no, but in finance, probably yes. But if it's only your second job, probably don't care that much.

do ppl still care about the "job hopper" label. first job out of college was in finance at 1 year and 10 months. Now on my second job approaching 1 year and 5 months...thinking about making the switch and sending some resumes out
