What is a baking sheet?

I ask for a new sheet every year for my birthday or Christmas present.

It isn't worth it to me to fuss over scrubbing, etc. I foil line when possible and wash, but it is just way easier to toss the old one into the recycling bin when it gets gross and blackend and get a new one (and a practical Christmas gift for once).

I keep separate meat and pastry/bread sheets. For the non-meat sheets, I line them with silpat and run the pans through the dishwasher between uses. As the pans get older, I switch them to meat and cover in foil. New sheets are really cheap at Costco (about $5).

Pp here-also in the future anytime you cook meat on them you should line them. I've learned the hard way. I have thrown out many pans. It's better to just line them from the start.

I've heard about putting them in a garbage bag with oven cleaner or ammonia. This should remove the stains. I'm going to try it this week.

I have metal baking pans and they all look messy due to grease stains. I know they are clean because I wash them well but they just look awful. Any ideas on how to effectively clean them after baking or broiling?
