Medium Rare is just steak and frites, and if that appeals to you, it would be fun. Dupont Circle, also on the Red Line, is very lively and would make for an interesting dinner, lots of choices depending on what you want (not helpful I know). Anyway, just thought I would add a little to what people had said.

No, it's not. We go there when we can't get a table at Chef Geoff's. For food's decent; it's always empty though.

BlackSalt, in Palisades. MacArthur Blvd has some good places to eat while avoiding traffic closer to downtown.

Where are you staying? There are free shuttles from campus to the metro, which will greatly expand your range. I would not recommend driving. Because parking. There isn't any.

Masala Art it Tenleytown is nice. I also like Guapo's, although it's not destination dining or anything like that.

Two stops down the red line and you are in Cleveland Park--try St. Arnold's for mussels and fries or Medium Rare for steak & fries. Another stop down the line to Woodley Park, and walk over the bridge to Adams Morgan. I highly recommend Mintwood Place.

We'll be in town 3 days and would like to have a few good recs for places to go. Looking for really good food but a non-stuffy atmosphere. The easier to get to the better (but willing to drive or cab as needed). Thanks!
