Could you be referring to Dr David Golden? I'm having trouble finding a Goldman that matches your description.

I had an episode of this. I saw a doctor in Baltimore, who had trained at Hopkins. Dr Goldman maybe (sorry can't remember the name exactly). Had two episodes. Carried an Eli pen for a year every time I exercised but it has been 3 years and haven't had another episode.
Some people have episodes if they eat certain foods beforehand. Allergists can do complete food testing. The good news that if you feel yourself swelling or itching while exercising, you can stop!

See an allergist and have him keep think about what foods if any he ate prior to the episode(s). There is a variant of food dependent exercise induced anaphylaxis. If the episode was recent it will be easier to remember what he ate/did that day.

That happened to DH's roommate way back when he had roommates--he had to carry an epi-pen.

I get a mild form of this - exercise induced hives. It's annoying but not life threatening. And, I agree, it's really bizarre.

I joke that I am allergic to exercise...but I wonder how this is possible?

What is it? Never heard of being allergic to exercise. Is it a really bad asthma attack?

Does anyone know of any doctors in the area with experience treating adult Exercise-induced anaphylaxis (EIA)?
