I would go to 14th St and check out Room and Board / Design within Reach and the other stores there.

I was just in a Cort clearance store that opened in Chantilly earlier this year and they have some great prices. Also, there is a Macy's furniture gallery in Fair Oaks. There used to be one at Ballston as well, not sure if it's still there. The Fair Oaks location is where I got my leather set. I love it.

Havertys. Not "local" per se, but decent.

For an area as dense, large, and affluent as DC is, I am continually amazed at the lack of furniture stores here. When anyone ever asks about furniture, the first and only answer seems to be Belfort. There seems to be room for much more quality competition here than there is.

My advice is to avoid Marlo like the plague. They have the WORST customer service. They screwed up our delivery three times (taking three absences from work, ugh!) by bringing the wrong item. Never again.

Do you know any local furniture stores in the are that have nice leather living room sets? Preferably a website too, so I can check out their inventory before going. I'm in Nova, but wouldn't mind going to MD, DC if i see something i like. Thank you
