Why can men binge drink without getting raped but women can't?

This is the most disturbing article I've read recently on the topic: http://www.insidehighered.com/news/2014/07/10/mccaskill-says-her-survey-shows-colleges-falling-short-dealing-sex-assaults#ixzz374I1KTXg

(short version: more than 20% of college nationwide letter athletic departments oversee sexual assault claims against student-athletes).

My kid is much younger, but I'm wondering how you all talk to your college aged kids about how to stay safe in social situation, sexual ethics, etc.

There have been stories in the media lately where it seemed more like he said/she said under conditions of extreme inebriation. But in this case she was found bent over a pool table, with someone having sex with her and others filming it. I really don't think that could be construed as something she just forgot she gave consent to. No one would consent to that.

Mary Washington has no Greek system; a huge plus in our eyes.

Shows what a sick society we live in.

What our colleges administrators have been allowed to get away with, is utterly outrageous.

But parents keep funding it.

PP who asked the question here. I went to Stanford two decades ago. We had frats, and they were by and large cesspools. I very much doubt the school has gotten rid of them.

Will anyone jet their daughter apply after the article in the NY Times today? It was pretty horrifying and the school seemed a little in denial about how poorly it handled the case.
