Nice. We loved Linden when we went there 10 years ago. I assume it's still outstanding.

Love Sunset Hills and 8 Chains North. Both kid friendly and nice wines. Could do both in one day as they are close to each other.

Others we love are Cana in Middleberg and Barrel Oak.

Linden. It is quiet and you could probably wander around the grounds and get a good hike in. The owner is the kind of the "godfather" of Virginia wineries. Straight out 66. It popped up in the early 80s and as we drove to our country house we would chuckle and laugh about the hilarity of Wineries actually doing well in Virginia. Hah!

Too late for your weekend trip, but Narmada, west of Warrenton, has tons of outdoor space and a little playground for little ones. (Very small, nothing fancy, backyard kind of stuff. But in a nice setting, under a tree across the drive from the pondside pavilion where sometimes they have small live music.)

I think Narmada and Pearmund (on 29 just north of Warrenton) is a nice day. If you have time for a third, Gray Ghost is across the road from Narmada. Never been, but I hear their wine is good. (There used to be a really nice one up the hill from Pearmund, but the neighbors got tired of the limos and buses and closed them down. A shame; they were nice people and had good wine.)

Drive out to Centreville and hike around the civil war battlefield (there is a nice wooded walkway for part of it.) Right next door is a winery that is very kid-friendly.

Hike Sugarloaf mountain and then go to Sugarloaf winery. Very family friendly.

Sunset Vineyards in Purcellville has a porch and outdoor space and isn't usually too crowded. The wine is only mediocre but it's a pretty relaxed atmosphere. We enjoy it. There's another, bigger vineyard just down the road but I forgot the name.

We took our one year old to Barrel Oak last month and totally regret it. There were too many people and dogs around to let DS roam around so we constantly had to be holding him back or picking him up. I'd suggest somewhere more quiet with lots of space for your LO to run around, if he/she is walking.

1 is a tough age, for sure. Most tasting rooms aren't really kid friendly, but some wineries have a family-friendly vibe or at least are conducive to outings.

We took our daughter to Doukenie at about that age. They have a pond and you can get wine and have a picnic and feed the ducks. A very popular one is Bluemont Winery, it's owned by the same family that owns Great Country Farms across the street. Will your toddler sleep in the stroller? Maybe do Great Country first and then he can nap in the stroller while you enjoy some wine across the street at Bluemont?

Places are close together, so if you're truly tasting and pace yourselves, you can visit a few in a day. If you have an easy going toddler, you'll probably be fine, otherwise, I'd look for a sitter. Or do a wine festival this summer and bring your kid.

There's hiking in the Shenandoah National Park.

Don't have a recommendation of a place to stay though.

DH and I would like to go on a day trip this weekend, possibly hiking and to a winery. Any suggestions on one that might be accommodating with a 1 year old? Maybe with outdoor space?
