Yup. Boathouse. Solid pub food and atmosphere. Nice neighborhood feel.

Been to the Boathouse a couple of times in the last month when I was in the area, and it works very well. Very much a neighborhood place, food decent, something for everyone and good service. Wish there was a place like it near where we live.

Ditto for Blacksalt.

Sur La Place - the other Belgian place. Decent.

Salt & Pepper - my DD loves this place, but DH have not liked any of our food there since it last changed hands. Bordering on gross. But a lot of people on the neighborhood listserv seem to like it. Maybe we just have bad luck.

Boathouse - solid pub food. I make a better grilled cheese, but burgers are usually good. Greek dishes are good. They get a lot of kids in there.

Bambu - solid pan-Asian food in a family-friendly atmosphere.

Listrani's closed last week.

Really? Not that I'd been in several years, but I used to really love their salads.

OP if you are interested in the Maryland side of Macarthur there is also the Irish Inn and a little father out is Fish Taco and Wild Tomato

We take our kids to Et Voila all the time - they will eat the mussels, burger or split a steak.

Second the Boathouse. Seen lots of kids eating there. I've never seen kids at Et Voila.

If you are looking at the Palisades part of MacArthur, my kids love Bambu for americanized Asian food (they have Chinese, Thai and Japanese items on the menu.)

Farther north, my kids absolutely love Fish Taco up in the Cabin John area of MacArthur. There is Wild Tomato next door, which probably has "American" food but we've never tried it.

BlackSalt has a good happy hour, including fish sticks, mac and cheese, and burgers. From 4-7pm in the cafe section.

Solid "American" food, a little bit pricey but also cozy.

Any ideas for American or other good place to take kids?
