I make 6 figures, am out by 4 everyday and am still jealous of OP.

I am sorry we don't pay teachers more. I am glad you love your job and the children and tolerate the parents who probably have perfect grammar...

Teachers are not paid over the summer. And while they might leave at 4, they will do several hours of work at home. Teaching is a hard job.

Exactly. This is why teachers in the Education forums are defending their planning time, teacher workdays, etc. so fiercely. The misperceptions about the teaching profession are rampant.

I teach early childhood. The kids give me tons of hugs all day and to see them learning to read is very rewarding. But the vacations are better than that! LOL

All my teacher friends work weekends! Planning, grading papers, Etc.

I'm jealous! I miss teaching so much now that I'm back in the corporate world...especially now that all my teacher friends are posting their fun summer plans on Facebook. Wish I wasn't stuck in the dreary office all day. Enjoy, OP!

Most kids are great, some of the parents appreciate me, the kids love me and i excel at my job but the annoying parents, low pay and awful administration make work hell most days. BUT then SUMMER COMES and i have FREEDOM!! i can travel, go to the pool, read, hell i even have time to clean my refrigerator! Time is so much more important than money; I will never leave the profession.
