I'm usually the first to throw things out, but I'd feed it to my baby.

I would think it was fine.

I think broccoli smells pretty bad when it's not good to eat. I'd do the sniff test.

No brainer here. Agree!

What?!? That's crazy. You should in fact let hot food cool to room temperature before refrigerating. What could possibly happen to steamed broccoli in three hours on a counter?

The issue to me was NOT the safety of the food. I happen to agree the broccoli ok.
(FYI: I am the "No brainer" poster.)
The issue here is that if OP is concerned enough to start a thread about it, then it is not worth her worrying about it, so just toss it! In other words, the topic is NOT "thread worthy" (IMO.)

It's a veggie - should be fine. I'd be more cautious if it were meat or dairy.

I steamed broccoli last night for baby food in a countertop steamer. Right as it finished, we lost power. I let it sit on the counter until the power came back on 3.5 hours later because I didn't want to open the fridge. At that point, it was room temperature, so I put it in a container and put it in the fridge.

Still good to make baby food with? What say you all?
