OP here. Just wanted to report back that we did indeed go to the HOmestead for three nights with our 20 month old! The weather was iffy (overcast, chilly one day) but overall I swear I actually had a relazing vacation with a toddler. The toddler pool was awesome because it only went to 1 ft deep which is perfect. they also had an adjacent sand "beach" for the kiddos. My kid even wore her puddle jumper and floated next to us in lazy river. My husband did falconry and the instructor let our daughter put a glove on and hold a smaller falcon. We used the onsite sitter service every night. Once DD was asleep, sitter showed up at 8 and we went to dinner. Overall I found most places accomodating but the food onsite not very good for little kids (think nuggets and fries). the downside, the drive is long. 4 hours and holy cow, the place is freakin expensive!! but it was nice having everything in one place and cooler weather.

They still do, although I'm not sure of the age range. I was actually "taking the waters" at the outside part of the spa as I saw my DD and her fellow kid campers walk along a path on the hill above.

The Homestead opened a new pool complex about two years ago which includes a terrific area for toddlers - sprayers, spinners, sand, etc. Make sure it is still open when you go!

DS was about that age when we went to the Homestead. The restaurants were generally ok with kids. I don't know if I would take them to the super fancy restaurant but there are several dining options that are fine with kids--the golf course restaurant was very good. We went during the spring so it was too cold for swimming so if you go when the pool is still open, it may be more fun. I didn't find that there was that much to do for a young child and it's very stuffy for a family trip--I think it would have been better if just DH and I went as they have a great spa and golf.

What about Lancaster, PA? You could do Dutch Wonderland, Amish Country, the train museum. I think it would be more interesting for a child that age. Or Baltimore has lots of fun things to do for little kids.

We want a nice getaway late summer/early fall with a 20 month old. ("nice" with a 20 month old being relative I know). But not at a beach since we are doing that earlier in the summer. We were thinking the Homestead. They have a pool and an expansive lawn my very active kid could run around on I think. Plus we could put her in a pack and take her hiking which we love to do. Not sure how many of the restaurants are kid friendly (high chairs). Anyone have an experience taking a toddler to the Homestead? Or another suggestion for a weekend getaway with a toddler?
