Baseball? Really? That's a sport for kids who can't play LAX.

Actually, Lax is a sport for kids who can't play baseball, golf, or soccer.

OP, if you are still reading and haven't become distracted by the drivel spouted by lacrosse fans, here's some thoughts:
1. Currently St. John's is the strongest program, as reflected in some of the prior posts.
2. In the IAC, Georgetown Prep also has had a nice program, particularly in the last 5 years or so.
3. If you are not interested in going the Catholic school route, St. Albans probably has the strongest baseball tradition (including various alums drafted within the past 5 years) and beat Georgetown Prep in the IAC tournament to win the league this year, so they also have a strong current program.
4. Another nice option is Maret -- a very strong program in the last 5 years in particular, including last year when they had a team with multiple Division I signees. Their coach runs a good club program, DC Dynasty.

Good luck -- despite the strength of lacrosse in this area, there's a lot of good baseball option.

So, in 2008 St. Albans had a really good baseball player? Is that the point of the referenced article? Did the signing bonus actually get paid? Is commercialism the best measure of athleticism?

Hey, 08:16: Come back and post when a local private school grad gets a $6.35 million signing bonus to play professional lacrosse.

More like one for those who can correctly spell out lacrosse! But the world always needs more bonehead lax bros . . .

In the DMV a Prep-Landon LAX game will draw thousands - overflow crowds. A high school baseball game? Maybe a few dozen parents.

I understand it's quite different in the Dominican Republic though.

Shut it, racist.

I am not sure it is the "best" but G Prep's program for baseball is very impressive. Kids play in the summer leagues so I would suggest you attend some varsity and JV games and make your own assessment.
