Subject: How much would you pay more for a "certified" used car?

I wonder why ; )

If you're used to buying new, then it's worth it.
Basically certification means they are (internally) paying for a warranty, which I believe is backed by the manufacturer. The dealer will be quick to fix any problems, since they get paid from teh warranty for any fixes = more work for them.
Best CPO cars are 2-3 years old, which is usually off-lease cars. They will have a glut of them around now due to turn-backs, and need to move them.
Last CPO we got (Audi) included 0.9% financing from Audi (VW credit). They were eager to move that year of CPOs as too many were coming off-lease.

Lexus extends up to 100,000 miles. Not that anything ever goes wrong with a Lexus, but the warranty is substantial. Worth $1K

I am looking to buy a used car for the first time in my life (always bought a new car) and wondering how much the certification is worth?
I found CPO cars are $1-2k more expensive ($30-40k car price range).
Would it make sense to pay that much more money for the certification and automatic 1 year extension of manufacturer warranty?
