I don't think they would rush you out at cantlers. Pusser's is also nice with a view. Maria's is also good, near the water but no view, and they'd probably let you sit on a Monday afternoon.

OP again. No objection to Annapolis at all. I don't mind driving, even across the bay bridge (well it does freak me out a little, but that's for another thread, not in the food section). This friend is dear to me, and I've not seen her for several years. Haven't had time with her alone for more than a decade. My DH and DS have been near. She's planning to move further away and I may never see her again (she's older). So, I want to visit with her someplace quiet, charming with good food and even a good view, maybe even on the water. I don't want to feel like we need to move quickly because others are waiting for our table. I looked up Cantler's as I'd heard about it over the years. Not sure about it though. We are meeting on a Monday.

You don't have to drive over the bridge to get to Annapolis. Cantler's is fun but it's not really relaxing or quiet....although it might be on a Monday afternoon.

You should check out the Boatyard, too.

Ram's Head Tavern is casual, has shady outdoor seating if you want it, and is moderately priced. Don't know if she's old enough to be on a fixed income. You can have a long lunch. Its quiet. It's not on the docks though. If that area is good for you, 49 West is also nice. My mom would love both.

Pusser's Caribbean Grille is in the Mariott, but right on the water in historic Annapolis. Can't remember what parking was like. I used to work down there and we walked everywhere.

Should be relatively quiet at lunch.

PP again. I forgot to mention that the Nautilus is one of the more upscale Greek style diners (like Metro29 diner in Arlington or Double T up in Ellicott City). Nice Greek food (huge portions, so be careful) and an easy place to hang out for a couple of hours without causing an issue with hogging a table (unless you are there for Sunday brunch time).

I guess you could meet at Kent Narrows for crabs too, like at Harris's, or do something in Annapolis.

Odenton MD - easy to get to from Rockville using Routes 28/198 and Route 32.

Years ago, I would go there for crabs, like Jim's hideaway or Kauffmans. Maybe somebody else could chime in on the digs there now.

Punks Backyard Grill is good, if not much of a lingering type place. It's in Annapolis Mall.

What day of the week? I've seen this place in Annapolis mentioned a few times in Washintonian magazine, but it looks like it's only open for lunch on Wed, Thurs and Fri.

Was going to say Pasta Plus in Laurel, but that's just dinner. Maybe Chick & Ruth's? Or Plato's Diner in College park...

I'm planning to meet a friend midway for a catch up visit. She lives across the Chesapeake bay. I'm in the Rockville area. I'd appreciate recommendations for a casual and comfy yet interesting or quaint meeting place for a leisurely lunch. She suggested Macaroni Grill in Annapolis Mall. I think not. Do any of you have suggestions for a place to meet for a 2 hr. girls lunch? Thanks.
