Yes, for a summer birthday son and it was the right decision for him. Difficult in the short term; however, we, too were changing schools. The difficulty came in Sunday School, Cub Scouts, and the like. There were long term benefits down the road which outweighed the momentary awkwardness.

Where was he in school before, and how did they determine that he was a year behind academically?

Our son will be starting at a MD private school in the fall, but will need to repeat second grade to catch up to the academics there. Anyone have a similar experience at a local private? Thanks!
